A lonely thing, like life, arisen from void. Stillness and a microphone, vocal chords. An idea, thoughts, a goal. Sounds of cycles of life and death, birth and cessation, described with terminology from physics, chemistry and biology. Creating by amplifying an infinitely small idea Ð creating an Amplimer, an Amplicon. Amplicons are pieces of DNA formed as the products of natural or artificial amplification events. Like evolution, giving rise to animal forms with ability to reproduce and die. Amplifying from a minute non-tangible idea something larger which may be experienced with the auditory sense. In physics, matter creation is the appearance of elementary particles in physical processes; the opposite of annihilation. Amplicon sees Gammelsaeter as a creation operator, increasing the number of particles in a given state, taking the operation necessary to amplify ideas to sound. Mixed by Tore Ylvisaker of Ulver.

Language of Red Goats is a complete work in itself, but can also be viewed as the first facet of a tripartite series of works that are part of one holistic creation Ð three faces of the same being. More akin to a primitive fieldrecording in the realm of oneirotropic exploration, than an actual album, the work consists of one lengthy tripartite soundscape. Utilizing only gongs, bells, metal bowls and wind instruments, as well as flocks of birds, the work is in contrast to earlier more refined works that feature a wide multiplicity of instruments and soundsources. Language of Red Goats is a bare, primitive and sometimes raw aural landscape, and yet nonetheless achieves a rare subliminal intensity and an edge of otherwordly luminosity.

Really great find this one, somehow reminds me of 80's stuff like Lydia Lunch, maybe its the raw emotional content of the spoken word. An excellent marriage - no pun intended - off bleak spoken word and cinematic clouds of drone. Very good indeed.

'Metaphonic Portrait 1230 A.D.' CD

Continuing with his interest in cathedrals, with the new K11 release 'Metaphonic Portrait 1230 A.D.', Riparbelli entered Assisi Cathedral in the Umbria region of Italy, not far from RiparelliÕs hometown of Tuscany; the 1230 A.D. in the albumÕs title referring to the date of completion of the original cathedral. Audio was recorded in the cathedral's lower basilica, the oldest area, where the actual relics of St. Francis Of Assisi are kept. Again utilizing short-wave radios as his primary "instrument" Riparbelli has captured a haunting array of cavernous sounds, displaced signals and found ambiance. With the addition of some voice and organ elements, Metaphonic Portrait 1230 A.D. sounds not unlike the recordings of experimentalists Philip Jeck and William Basinski under the influence of Crowleyean Magick and Sacred Geometry. A psychedelic meditation from some medieval crypt captured out of time in the present. The numbers used in the songtitles are chosen with purpose, all related to the Gematria, the ancient system that assigns numbers to words and how they relate to each other. A video shot inside the cathedral by Riparbelli is included on the disc to give the listener a visual picture of the aging structure. As in all K11's work, the themes of magick, religion, numerology and esotericism are present throughout this reverent document of aural mysticism.

K11 (aka Pietro Riparbelli) is a very good sound-sculptor continuing the long tradition of Italian Ambient Industrial artists ... This special album was recorded at the enchanting park of Monsters of Bomarzo.
The park of Monsters of Bomarzo was devised by the architect Pirro Ligorio (he completed the Cathedral of Saint Peter in Rome after the death of Michelangelo and built Villa d'Este in Tivoli) on commission of Prince Pier Francesco Orsini, called Vicino, only to vent the heart broken at the death of is wife Giulia Farnese. The park was born in 1552 as "Villa of Wonders" to be the only one of it's kind in the world. Incredible but true, the Park of Monsters remained in complete oblivion till 1954 and only few people were aware about all the fantastic treasures contained within the park for over 400 years !
K11 recorded the soul of this park of Monsters and Wonders and after re-working the sounds he delivers us a trip between reality and dream. Psychadelic, ritual ambient music from an other space, from an other era, from another land...

'Blue Fields in Paramount' CD

"A member of Eve And The Sickness, Idiosyncrasia and Ultraphallus and Idiosyncratics label's boss along with Yannick Franck, Phil Maggi also released this new solo album on the aforementioned Idiosyncratics. The album contains a 39 minute track that is formed by totally different mini suites made with loops, fields recordings (he did his sessions in a church and in the streets of Zagreb) and sampled contemporary classical music. The track starts with a dark ambient drone mood with tonal inserts and follows with Zagreb sounds mixed with backward classical music. Suddenly anxious atmospheres take a hold thanks to synth sounds coupled with an orchestration of sampled/treated breaths. The track changes skins many different times, each one like a phoenix born from its ashes and Phil succeeds into keeping the listener's attention thanks to interesting sounds, light melodies and tension."
This is a really great piece of composition, beautifully constructed, layered and exectued. Nice packaging too from this interesting Belgian label. Limited to 300 only. Recommended.

Isolationist funeral doom has rarely sounded so claustophonic, epic, beautiful and harrowing all at the same time. Three cursed hymns presented here - The Death Posture, Still I and Still II.
